Moving To Canada
The course of one’s life can completely change
depending on each decision one makes. Everybody has a main event or people who
affect their life and change how they feel and react to the world. For me that
event is moving to Canada. Moving to Canada has become the most important event
in my life so far. One important difference I have noticed between Canada, and
my place of birth, China is the culture. Since I experienced Chinese culture at
home and when I lived in China, experiencing western culture in Canada has
given me a broader and more open view of the world because now I have more than
one perspective. However because I am Chinese when meet somebody in the street
in Canada they normally think of me as Chinese but when I meet somebody in
China they notice my differences and think of me as a foreigner. An example is
that in Canada all of my friends refer to me as Chinese not Canadian and when I
am in China my friends and relatives refer to me as Canadian. Western Culture
also greatly affected my lifestyle and changed the video games I play, movies I
watch and books I read. An example is that because I did not live in China for
very long I have never read any of the great Classics in Chinese and can
sometimes not even understand Chinese T.V. Every Country has their own unique
culture and learning a different culture can greatly change a person’s life
such as mine.
